We took the time to talk to Lisa Lashes, the world famous DJ who plays to sell out crowds world wide, runs the famous Lashed parties in Ibiza, not to mention the Lashed podcast that already has over 50,000 subscribers, and runs her own record label. Even with this hectic schedule she still found the time to speak to us.

Hi Lisa, you are now one of the worlds top DJ’s, how did it all start for you?
I started going out with my friends clubbing in Birmingham where a lot of the clubs were after hour’s clubs which would play the harder sounds of music. I would stand and watch the DJ that was performing for hours and thinking I would love to be able to be a DJ and control the dancefloor like the djs would so easily do.

Tell us all about Lashed and how it all came about.
I wanted an event to showcase the styles of music that I love to play and also to transform venues to have that magic touch which both clubbers and djs will appreciate and add that’s X factor into a night out to make it stand out above the rest. I hope we have achieved this with the events we have done so far and when we relaunched the brand last year it got a great response wit many more events planned for this year as well!

You have played all over the world, what makes Ibiza so special?
Ibiza is such a great place as you can go to one side of the Island and party all night long or you can go to the other where you will find the most beautiful beaches and have the most chilled time of your life.  Ibiza does have the best clubs all on one Island.  They are on such a grand scale and very overwhelming when you see them for the first time..

For someone who has never been to Ibiza, what tips would you give them?
It’s a hard one but try to pace yourself else the Island will suck you up and spit you out..  The pr-parties are always good to get cheaper tickets to the clubs you want to go to as they can be very expensive on the door with no ticket.  Enjoy yourself and don’t go back home, needing another holiday as you’ve overdone it!!

Besides Ibiza, where is the best place you have played?
Ive had the privilege of playing in so many wonderful places all over the world.  It changes all the time for me each time I play but I do love Sydney, South Africa and of course UK & Ireland where a lot of my loyal fans are.

What clubbing holiday resorts will we see you in this year?
I’ll most definitely be back in Ibiza and I know my management are working on a few other key destinations but I cant let the cat out of the bag yet so keep an eye on my website for details as they are announced (djlisalashes.com)

For young DJ’s trying to make it to where you are, what advice would you give them?
Be original and create your own niche in the market. These days there are so many djs playing other peoples tracks you really need your own twist on things whether this be stage performance or playing your own tracks or remixes in your sets!

What does 2011 have in store for you?
Lots more international travelling, my USA visa has been approved so we are planning a lot more dates over there as well as trips over to Russia, Holland, Germany and many more great destinations!

Thanks Lisa, is there anything you would like to add?
